Required Lacrosse Equipment

Required boy's lacrosse equipment, past historic period:

  • U-vii Boys:  Boy's youth stick and rima oris guard (eye goggles suggested).

  • Boys (7 yrs. and older):  boy's stick, helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, protective loving cup, and a mouth guard (rib pads optional but recommended).

  • Cleats are not required but arehighly recommended (no baseball cleats).

Equipment for Boys' and Men's Lacrosse

The Crosse:
The crosse (lacrosse stick) is made of wood, laminated wood or synthetic material, with a shaped internet pocket at the end. The crosse must be an overall length of 40 - 42 inches for attackmen and midfielders, or 52 - 72 inches for defensemen. The caput of the crosse must be 6.v - 10 inches broad, except a goalie'southward crosse which may be 10 - 12 inches wide. The pocket of a crosse shall be deemed illegal if the top surface of a lacrosse ball, when placed in the head of the crosse, is below the bottom edge of the side wall.

Helmets, shoulder pads and gloves are among the protective equipment requirements for boys' lacrosse. The Ball:
The ball must exist made of solid safety and can be white, yellow or orange. The ball is 7.75 - viii inches in circumference and 5 - 5.25 ounces.

The Helmet:
A protective helmet, equipped with face mask, mentum pad and a cupped four indicate chin strap fastened to all four hookups, must be worn by all players. All helmets and face masks should be NOCSAE (National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment) approved.

The Mouthpiece:
The mouthpiece must be a highly visible colour and is mandatory.

The Glove:
All players are required to wear protective gloves. The cutting or altering of gloves is prohibited.

Other Protective Equipment:
All players, with the exception of the goalkeeper, must vesture shoulder pads. Arm pads are required and rib pads are strongly recommended, and ofttimes required, every bit are athletic supporters and protective cups for all players.

Men's Lacrosse Sticks

Gloves

Lacrosse gloves are a very important piece of equipment. For kids only starting out, the lower-cost gloves are fine to see if they really similar the game or not. If they stick with it, upgrading the gloves is a smashing investment. The higher-end gloves offer more protection, flexibility, durability, and comfort, which leads to better play.
